Psalm 4: 5-6
Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still.
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.
Reading my devotional today.
This passage struck me as important.
In the devotional it points out that the word BED is key in this passage. I usually focus on the word meditate or the words be still…
But today I am focusing on the word BED. WHY?
Our bed represents the place where we are most vulnerable. It is a place of the private life. It is where we leave off the clothing that we think says “this is me, my style.” It is the place we are most real. It is just – ME. It is also the place where we are still in body, and where the heart and mind have full voice. We hear the clamor within. The stress, the worry, the anxiety, the fears. We feel the swirl going on and on and on as we lay there opening our eyes to see the ceiling. No matter what it is we hear while on our beds….it is us. It is our inner workings revealing.
Then it says to us OFFER THE SACRIFICES OF RIGHTEOUSNESS!!! How do I do that?? I thought.
The next verse : and put your trust in the Lord.
The righteous sacrifice all those worries, fears, feelings, thinking….
Sacrifice: to give up something valued
Wow!! that is something…isn’t it true that we can think of our worries, and fears, our feelings and thoughts as valuable.
But here in this passage of scripture it says that they are our sacrifice. We are the righteousness of God is Christ Jesus!!
The RIGHTEOUS sacrifice those valuables…those chosen treasures and instead we take us that righteousness by faith…
and WE TRUST IN THE LORD!!
No amount of worry will stop ruin, mishap or destruction.
No amount of fear will propel us to great heights.
No amount of feeling will let us touch God.
No amount of thinking will teach us His way.
BUT TRUSTING IN LORD….that can do anything!!! Nothing is impossible for God.
Today I choose with all my heart, mind and soul to Trust You!! I let go of all my worries, fears, my feelings, and thoughts and I choose to believe that You will supply my needs, be my courage, comfort me and direct my way. Help me to use the time while I am in my bed to meditate and be still in trust of you.
Thanks for Listening
