Psalm 138:1-3

I will praise You with my whole heart;
Before the gods I will sing praises to You.
² I will worship toward Your holy temple,
And praise Your name
For Your lovingkindness and Your truth;
For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.
³ In the day when I cried out, You answered me,
And made me bold with strength in my soul.

There is a time to be silent, lest we cast pearls before swine; and there is a time to speak openly, lest we be found guilty of cowardly non-confession.”

In the last psalm, the psalmist vocalized the pain of being asked to sing the praise songs of Zion while in a foreign land. Here, in this psalm, we not see a boldness arise to praise God with a whole heart in the face of foreign gods. It seems like a strange contrast but one is being made to praise in the midst of grief and the other is standing up and giving praise to the One true God while the gods look on.

So why do we worship? Do we know? Have we found reason too? Have we become moved to our core to worship our God and King? Are we wholehearted worshipers?

For what reason do we worship?

Its is not His lovingkindness and truth! Is it not His magnificent word and name!

It’s because He has heard us and answered our cries!

He has made us bold and strengthened us from the inside out!

Its is not because He has sent His Son to save us and glorify His name!

GIVE PRAISE!! WORSHIP WHOLEHEARTEDLY!! HE IS WORTHY!!

Father, I lift my face to the heavens. I come before you and you alone. I turn my heart toward you and thank you for your love. Lord, you have been gracious to me all my days. You have helped me learn and grow. You are my King! I give you reign of my heart and life. You have shown yourself as faithful. You are the way, the truth, and the life. I need you, Lord! Oh, how I need you. Let your word change the chemistry of my heart. Make me more like you God. I exalt your name! The name of Jesus! The name that is above every other name! I glorify your name! The name that expresses the character of God in fullness. You are all together lovely. You have heard my cries. You have heard my prayers. Give me eyes to see how you have answered them. Because of your great love I can be fearless to do what you have called me to do. I can be bold as a lion and stand. You have strengthen my insides. You have set my feet on a solid rock and foundation. I shall not be moved. I declare that you are God and there is no other. You will save your people and do what is right! I bless your name Jesus. I thank you for your love and kindness. Come make us more like you! In Jesus name.
