Psalm 136 is unique in the way it is written.
Over and over it in each verse after a statement it says, “His love endures forever.”
Below I’ve put all the statements and capped it off with this beautiful declaration.
Give thanks to the Lord, for his good …
Give thanks to the God of gods…
Give thanks to the Lord of lords…
to him who alone does great wonders…
who by his understanding made the heavens…
who spread out the earth upon the waters…
who made the great lights…
the sun to govern the day…
the moon and stars to govern the night…
to him who struck down the firstborn of Egypt…
and brought Israel out from among them…
with a mighty hand and outstretched arm…
to him who divided the Red Sea asunder…
and brought Israel through the midst of it…
but swept Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea…
to him who led his people through the wilderness…
to him who struck down great kings…
and killed mighty kings…
Sihon king of the Amorites…
and Og king of Bashan…
and gave their land as an inheritance…
an inheritance to his servant Israel…
He remembered us in our low estate…
and freed us from our enemies…
He gives food to every creature…
Give thanks to the God of heaven…
His love endures forever.

Father, I give you thanks. For you are the God of gods and the Lord of lords. You are the One who does wonders and mighty acts. You are the One who created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. Even the night sky and all its stars, along with the bright and morning sun. You gave the waters and all the fish in the sea. You alone are God and you are good. Your word recounts the the journey that you took the people of Israel. You led them by your love and caused them to be set free from the grip of Egypt. You topples nations and kings who sought to defy you. They bowed to idols made of stone and sacrificed their children on an altar of evil. You utterly destroyed them and gave their land as an inheritance to Your sons and daughters. You remembered us in our lowest place. We were dead in sin and without hope in the world but you send your Son, Jesus. He came and lived among us and taught us about who You are. He is the express image of Your goodness. His life was given as a ransom for mine. THANK YOU LORD! THANK YOU LORD!! Your love endures forever!
Thank you for praying and listening,
Starla
