“Many a time they have afflicted me from my youth,”
Let Israel now say—
2 “Many a time they have afflicted me from my youth;
Yet they have not prevailed against me.
3 The plowers plowed on my back;
They made their furrows long.”
4 The Lord is righteous;
He has cut in pieces the cords of the wicked.
Here we can see that the enemy has been after the people of Israel, well, forever. He has chased them through deserts, made them captive slaves, surrounded them with enemies, and tried to wipe them off the face of the earth. Yet, he has not succeeded.
As I read this I couldn’t help but think that this is how the enemy is after our children as well. From their youth they are afflicted. They are run over by those who think they are bigger and smarter than they. Pushing them into knowledge to great for them before their little minds can fully understand and have perspective. The enemy busy trying to capture their hearts and make deep rows in their souls with trauma and pain. But the Lord is righteous! He cuts in pieces the cords of the wicked.
Father, from Israel’s youth you have given the victory. From mine as well. God would you protect the youth of our nation from the onslaught of the enemy to make them conform to his will and make them slaves of sex, drugs, and sin. Lord, would you raise a banner over the children and wave it! Be their victor! Give them victory! So many are lost, twisted, and out of their right minds. Would you return them to the essence of their innocence. Draw them with your cords of love. Give them not up to the enemy to devour but shout your victory song over them. Make those who cause them to fall be turned back in shame. Let not the roots they try to plant in their young hearts and minds be fruitful. Let the sun scorch the seed before it take root. Give not blessing to those who cause young people to turn away from the Lord. Let your people rise up and stand with a standard. Let us be holy as you are holy. Give us words and actions that show the youth of our nation that God loves them and wants to heal them and make them whole.
Thank you for praying and listening,
