Psalm 111-113, The fear of the Lord, blessed, who is like him

on

These psalms are so rich!

Psalm 111:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever.

Psalm 112:1 Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments.

The fear of the Lord leads to some specific things:

  • wealth and riches in your house
  • not afraid of bad news
  • heart is firm, trusting in the Lord
  • triumph over adversaries

Psalm 113: 5 Who is like our God, the One who sits enthroned on high.

Father, teach me wisdom. Give me a heart that is in awe of you. Let their not be any place in me that treats you nonchalantly. Let me practice reverence for your name so that I may have good understanding. I praise you! Let me be blessed and greatly delight in your commandments that wealth and riches will be in my house, so that I am not afraid of bad news, may my heart be firm and steady trusting in you Lord, as I triumph over my adversaries. Who is like you God? Who is like the One who sits enthroned on high? There is no one like you! Give us the riches of your grace. I need more of you. Be with those who are needy and poor, Lord, give them relief and help their cause. House those who need housing. Feed those who need to eat. Love those who unlovely. Help those who are languishing.

Have you found yourself in a place of less than reverent about the Lord? Close your eyes, return, and admire Him. There is no one like Him.
