I’ve been around the mountain a time or two, suddenly waking up the fact that I just did the same thing again. Learning lessons is hard, especially when it takes a knock or two to get it. Sometimes, I just don’t see it. Sometimes, I am just too stubborn to care. Sometimes, I feel like I am on repeat mode and I am still too foolish to knock it off.
This psalm lays out over and over how the people got themselves into trouble.
- they wandering around aimlessly with no where to rest
- they sat in darkness and stumbled around in suffering
- they became foolish through their rebellious ways
- they found themselves in situation out of their control
- they found themselves in circumstances that He brought upon them to turn them for their good
Here is the beautiful part, over and over this verse repeats:
Psalm 107:6 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.
Psalm 107:13 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.
Psalm 107:19 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.
Psalm 107:28 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress.
He hears us! And what is the response?
In verses 8, 15,21,31 GIVE THANKS!

Father, I give you thanks for the many times you saved me from myself. Your love endures forever. When I’ve wandered – you have led be back to you. Thank you for keeping me even when I was far away. Thank you for satisfying my thirst and filling me when I was hungry. When I was in darkness, being rebellious, busy doing my own thing. When I finally got the end of my rope and there was no one, you were there. You saved me from my sin and from myself. Thank you that your unfailing love breaks the chains of self-sufficiency. When I was acting the fool, not making good choices, and felt death creeping into my soul, you delivered me. You sent your word and you healed me. I rejoice in your power to save. Even when I got into trouble, at no fault of my own, just because I was in the wrong place and the wrong time, you delivered me. You calmed the storm around me and steadied my frantic heart. You are so good! Thank you for doing whatever it takes to help me walk the right path. Thank you for making a way empty that I will go the other way. Thank you for pouring fertilizer on the path that I walk and satisfying me with your goodness and grace. You lifted me when I was needy. You’ve given increase when I was out of provision. Thank you Lord! Thank you! Thank you!
What are the stories you could tell of how God saved you?
Thanks for Listening,
