Day 23 – He is Unity

Day 23 – He is Unity

Maybe you have experienced the unity of Christ in and through His people. Seeing a group of people move together as one is a beautiful sight. One of the reasons I love to watch geese fly is because I am fascinated by their formation in flight, they move together and fly together behind one lead bird who is guiding them to their destination. I want to be a church like that! Every church has its struggles but more than likely you have experienced unity breakdown. People bickering and fighting, dishonoring each other without batting an eye about it. When there is that kind of atmosphere in a church the focus on complaining and divisiveness kills the love of Christ in us. – Tweet that! When this happens, people and their needs get forgotten. It can be a horrible sight. We already live in a busy world, we don’t also need to live in an abrasive church.

Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

Colossians 3:13-14

Christ is Unity, He moved and went about doing what He heard the Father speaking.  They are One. Jesus said, “If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father!” That is quite the statement. We are Christ’s body, can we say if you have seen us, you have seen Christ? I hope so. What a beautiful sight we are when we move together as one body. So, let’s go deeper into this thought and bring it down to our individual churches and our teams that we serve on. Are we able to say that we move together with our Pastor and our team leaders so closely that we are starting to look like each other? Not that we lose our individuality but when I am around someone whom I have my heart open too and I allow them to speak into my life, I begin to pick up bits of them, that I carry with me into all I do. I learn and grow from my mentors, teachers, and leaders.  I kind of sound like them, act like them, move like them and have a heart like them. Jesus brought unity and it’s a beautiful act! Like a well-written script, each player and part moves in unison to create the most glorious display. Christ on display through a church body always looks like glory given. Tweet That!

PRAYER: Jesus, if I have been divisive or complaining, help me to make honor and unity more important to me because it is important to you. Help me to forgive those who I am upset with. Help me to find out what their heart is on the places we divide so that I can have compassion and love rather than complaining about what they think and do.

Is unity important to you? Do you seek to be a good follower and promoter of the vision and values your church stands on? Ask for clarity if something doesn’t make sense. Be a change agent if there seems to be a gap between what is the stated value and the acted upon values.

Thanks for Listening,
