Deuteronomy 2:26-31
I sent messengers from the desert of Kedemoth to Sihon king of Heshbon. They offered him peace, saying, “If you let us pass through your country, we will stay on the road and not turn right or left. We will pay you in silver for any food we eat or water we drink. We only want to walk through your country. The descendants of Esau in Edom let us go through their land, and so did the Moabites in Ar. We want to cross the Jordan River into the land the Lord our God has given us.”But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass, because the Lord your God had made him stubborn. The Lord wanted you to defeat Sihon, and now this has happened. The Lord said to me, “See, I have begun to give Sihon and his country to you. Begin taking the land as your own.”
I read this passage and I thought to myself ….WOW!! AMEN!
Do you see it???
You know those times you come to someone and you are offering them peace, you are wanting a favorable outcome for both parties.
Maybe their was a fight…
Maybe their was a misunderstanding…
Maybe there was a simple miscommunication…
and they REFUSE
they become HARD HEARTED and STUBBORN
and what happens….
we get discouraged
we get upset
and we sit down and shut up! Right??? or get angry and stubborn ourselves.
WRONG!!!
Look at that passage…it says THE LORD made him stubborn because He wanted them to defeat that king.
He wanted them to OVERCOME!
WHY?? HOW??
BECAUSE PRIDE COMES BEFORE THE FALL!!!
Instead of getting discouraged when someone gets stubborn and wont hear us ( if we are truly offering peace – love) we should become filled with FAITH!! Because God has given it to you to overcome!! It is for our learning in HIM.
(watch out …now don’t go get prideful!! …listen closely to the Lord ..He will tell you what to say and not say, where to go and not go)
What a lie we have swallowed from the enemy!! He has made us believe for too long that it will be better if we say nothing. It will be better if we stop speaking truth and trying to make things right. It will be better if we render evil for evil.
Just say -NO!!
The truth will set us free!
If the enemy can get us to back down and lose faith …we lose!
If he can get our eyes of Gods way & on feelings …we lose!
So next time you are worried and fearing and you want to give up…. in the face of someone stubborn just know that YOU are an OVERCOMER!!
Go in and take that land!!! God wants to bless us! WOOT!

I know I can be stubborn and I guess it is a form of pride. We have to let Him lead and we follow and obey!
