Luke 10:38-42 Martha and Mary

38Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. 39And she had a sister calledMary, whosat at the Lords feet and listened to his teaching. 40But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” 41But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you areanxious and troubled about many things, 42but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

I just found a definition for the word DISTRACTED!

Distracted means to be rendered incapable of behaving or reacting normally because of worry, fear, grief or remorse.
WOW!!!!

That can apply to so much in our daily lives.

You cant see what is really going on when you are distracted. Like Martha she was so busy getting upset and anxious that she was blaming her sister for the problem and felt justified enough to TELL JESUS WHAT TO DO!! She just went about barking orders and getting her feathers ruffled….

Jesus said ONE THING is NECESSARY and Mary chose it!

Mary sat at Jesus feet and listened to Him….

That is the answer to all our DISTRACTEDNESS……………..STOP and SIT and LISTEN!

Maybe if Martha would have sat with the King she may have had but to ask and it would have been given to her??
