Hello Monday #42

Probably one of the best explanations of what … faith is! Check out the video below.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen.

Hebrews 11:1

The Springs of Life team went to the Foursquare Leader Conference in Kansas City this past weekend. Here is a highlight:

One of the workshops about disciple making gave a wonderful answer to an age-old question. You know how when you meet someone, or even when you have known them at some point, they ask a question about the Bible or Jesus, and you don’t know the answer. Sometimes we try to be smarter than we are – but the truth is we don’t have to be!

As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.

1 John 2:27

We never had to be smart enough! One of the best verses that shows this…

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.

Acts 4:13

Peter and John were not trained in the scripture but they spent time with Jesus. This shows us that we can let ourselves off the hook of not knowing everything. We can simply share what we do know and now here is the answer we can give to the person who asks of us something we don’t know.

I am excited that you have questions because the Holy Spirit is the Teacher – not me. I encourage you to keep asking, keep seeking, He will answer.

An older gentleman well into his last years of life was asked what would you do differently if you could go back. He said, “I wouldn’t have wasted so many years in seminary. But instead, I would have like to have been like Peter and John, who when those who encountered them preaching the gospel they marveled because they knew them to be unlearned men, but they had clearly been with Jesus’s. ” And then he said this:

You only need two things in this life.
1. Know your Bible
2. Pray a lot.

Sadly, I didn’t catch his name but what he said stuck.

Interesting thing about a Testimony

Yesterday morning at church, the Lord gave me a wrap up for the message on contentment based on the word “testimony.” He broke the word up, and in my mind, I saw it like this

Test(I)Moanie

The scripture says in Philippians 4:11… to be content whatever the circumstance.

The Lord will test the I (eye) that gives you the moan-ies.

The perspective that says: I don’t want to. I don’t like this. I hate this. I just want something else.

This is when we moan, lament, and complain instead of grow. The Lord will test us in that place of discontentment when we are complaining about everything and only focused on ourselves. Where is your focus? Are your eyes on Christ? We have to grow through what we go through, or you will get stuck in the moan-ies.

The Lord wants us to have testimony’s – do you know why?

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

Revelations 12:11

Christ did everything that we would need to overcome and then we get to declare it through the word of our testimony! Thats powerful. Whatever it is that you are going through – if you have been complaining, don’t remain there, move to declaring what God has done before and how he will get you through this too.

Thanks for listening,
