Creator, eternity, the end

Ecclesiastes 12:1 Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near of which you will say, “I have no pleasure in them”.

The ‘preacher’ seems to be looking back over his life and back at his youth. When we are young we often think we are invincible and we often do not take too much stock in looking at what we are doing, where we are going, and who we are walking along in life with. We just go. But the ‘preacher’ wants the young to pay attention: Remember God and eternity! Learning this while you are still young will keep you from wasting your life chasing lesser things and finding at the end of it all that you’ve wasted your life.

One day you will be old. The body will be weak. The eyes will be dim. And we all go to the grave.

Live for what is beyond the grave. Live for Christ.

Ecclesiastes 12:13 The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.

Follow after God – there is where all of life collides. In Christ!

Here is the safest place to be in the hands of our God who will judge all things.
