Did you know that you listen to yourself far more than you ever listen to someone else? It’s the reason that someone can say to you over and over that you are loved but until you believe it, you will not receive it.

Psalm 115:3-8

Our God is in heaven;
    he does whatever pleases him.
⁴ But their idols are silver and gold,
    made by human hands.
⁵ They have mouths, but cannot speak,
    eyes, but cannot see.
⁶ They have ears, but cannot hear,
    noses, but cannot smell.
⁷ They have hands, but cannot feel,
    feet, but cannot walk,
    nor can they utter a sound with their throats.
⁸ Those who make them will be like them,
    and so will all who trust in them.

God said, let us make man in our image. We are triune beings. He is triune. God in 3 persons, perfect trinity. We are triune. We have a body, soul, and spirit. I don’t know about you but when I look at God and see, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit working as one, that makes sense to me. I see order and relationship. That is how I am to function in my body, soul, and spirit; as one.

Here in this passage we see that those who make idols for themselves to pray too and follow after will be like those idols. They don’t speak, see, hear, smell, feel, walk, utter sound. What does that mean? It means they don’t live!

Father, not to us Lord be glory but all glory to you! You are love and faithfulness. Animate us with who you are. Give us words to speak. Help us see the world and people in it like you do. Give us ears to hear. Fill our noses with the fragrance of your goodness. Let us feel your presence. Guide our feet as we walk. Let our whole body utter the sound of praise. We trust in you! You are our shield and help! Remember us, bless us, cause us to flourish. Let our children and their children flourish. The heavens belong to the the Lord and all the earth. I lift my voice to praise you! Come Lord Jesus and do your work in my heart today. Teach me to love you more and cause me to love others as you would love them and to love myself. Thank you for sharing that idols are nothing. Inanimate objects can not save from death and hell but Jesus can!
