A little journal journey

on

Yesterday I woke up and had some thoughts on my mind and like a normally do I added them to my journal. Can I just say that if you don’t have a journal that you may just be missing a ton of information, understanding, ability to process and see what God is doing in your life. Two weeks ago I spoke on Good Friday and not normal Good Friday kind of message. I spoke about anxiety and fear. The world has been living in it for months now.

Anyway….back to journaling

Journal Entry April 15, 2020 – Day 29

The world cannot continue on as it was. It is a different landscape.

This crisis exposed a weakness in us. Can you name it?

We all came face to face with in over this past month.

FEAR

Fear of sickness, death, germs and viruses.

Fear of losing loved ones, jobs, and life as it was.

Now that we’ve past the initial emotional wave, have we settled into this new “normal.”

Have we accepted it? Have we figured out how we can navigate through life with it?

For some, fear gave way to love and life.

For others, fear gave way to control and judgment.

How do we deal with this enemy?

Last night during our Wednesday Night Bible Study – my pastor has been teaching a series called Listen Up: Hearing God in Troubled Times. During the lesson, he said, that we have preconditioned hearts that are defaulted to fear and/or pride. He called them nasty twins. He revealed that these two nasty twins are the veil that cause us to be hard hearted and blind to what God is doing right in front of us. So the fear that gave way to control in my journal entry are just two sides of one coin.

Fear causes us to live what I call the “seems like” life. It often gives way to Pride which is the “you obviously don’t know who I think I am” kind of life. Either way these two “nasty twins” work in tandem to keep us deaf, dumb, and blind to all that God has done, is doing, and will do in our lives.

The good news: Christ tore the veil!

2 Cor. 3:14 But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away.

Fear and Pride have no power any longer unless you give it to them.

This morning the Lord woke me up with this song in mind – Father of Lights

Our God has give us everything we need! I love how the Lord layers line up line and precept upon precept to teach us and train us in His ways.

Start a journal! Write a little or a lot every day. Add to it songs you hear that touch your heart, verses that stick out to you, teaching notes and training you receive, all your worries and doubts. God is speaking…are you listening?

Thanks for listening,

Starla
