Series: Rocks of Revelation #1

Rocks of Revelation

This past Sunday I spoke at my church. My pastor went on a mini-sabbatical for a few weeks. He asked me to speak. After I said yes. (Which is what you say to your pastor and then lean into Jesus for the know-how and strength to accomplish the goal.)  I prayed to the Lord for what He would like to say. He led me to review all the major messages that my pastor preached this past year. He began to draw a picture and how to connect all the past messages to the series my pastor is currently teaching called Rock Collector. This series is based on the story of David and Goliath.

1 Samuel 17: 38 Then Saul clothed David with his armor. He put a helmet of bronze on his head and clothed him with a coat of mail, 39 and David strapped his sword over his armor. And he tried in vain to go, for he had not tested them. Then David said to Saul, “I cannot go with these, for I have not tested them.” So David put them off. 40 Then he took his staff in his hand and chose five smooth stones from the brook and put them in his shepherd’s pouch. His sling was in his hand, and he approached the Philistine.

As the Lord led me, I began to see 5 rocks of revelation that the Lord has given our church through our pastor. 5 rocks that we can stand upon that would cause us to be the overcomers of giants in our day and in our land. We can become modern-day David’s – men and women after God’s own heart. I don’t think these are just for our church. I believe they are good practices for any Christian wanting to grow in the Lord.

The 5 rocks:

  1. REST
  2. TRUTH
  3. PREPARATION
  4. SERVICE
  5. UNITY

Over the next several blogs I am going to unpack these rocks. We will look at the practice of rest and what that looks like. Standing upon truth and how to do it. Being prepared for what the Lord is doing. Being ready to serve both how and who and remaining in unity that is so pleasing to our God.
