Day 6 – He is full of Grace
Grace is confusing to the world. When grace loves anyway, the world expects judgment. When grace covers sin, the world expects exposure. I encounter that thinking every time I speak to a teenager. I even find it lurking in my own heart.
I spoke to the teens of HYC, the youth group I lead about repentance and acceptance. I told them of Romans 2:4 …the kindness of God leads you to repentance. The world’s view of repentance is that it is some dastardly way to make people confess their sin so that it is exposed and they will be judged. That is really sad because from God’s point of view repentance is the door of acceptance. Every time we walk through it we experience acceptance. We will never be rejected. That is the amazing grace of God that He has offered us. When the world would walk out on us. God always shows up in the room with arms open wide.
From God’s point of view, repentance is the door of acceptance. – Tweet This!
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Jesus is full of Grace. He is full of beautiful, radical, love poured out kind of grace. He never held back when it came to love for us. He gave His very life to prove it. He did the opposite of what the established rulers did in that day. He moved toward sinners offering them freedom from sin and an undeniable love. Those leaders may have been able to say that they have walked the walk of the law and done it all right but those world leaders would rather cross the street than to have their path cross a sinner. Not, Jesus, He crossed the street to encountered their hearts, ate with them, talked to them, and treated them like friends. That is grace. That is the kind of grace that saves sinners like me.
Father, thank You for that grace so glorious in Jesus that was a herald to the whole world that love had come down to rescue us. Thank You for crossing the street for me.
Are you broken and in need of grace? Are you worried that God is mad at you for your bad decisions? Turn to Him, the door is open. It is never closed and while you’re at it. Be a friend of sinners today. Be like Jesus.
