Advent…hope…grace finding

I started Ann Voskamp’s book today that I got from Tina for my birthday.

THE GREATEST GIFT

Advent :

a coming into place, view, or being; arrival: the advent of the holiday season.

the coming of Christ into the world.

the period beginning four Sundays before Christmas, observed in commemoration of the coming of Christ into the world.

Advent  – 4 Sundays before Christmas – Lighting One candle every Sunday and one on the day of His birth.

HIS COMING INTO MY WORLD …I light my candle

Advent ..a foreign word like something from an old time…something I may have heard once before in a setting with a few people I knew to be Catholics but not something interesting , more like something just done …tradition….kind of like Lent …another old time word…

Advent …Christ coming!

Is 11:1

A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.

Ann asks on Day 1… will you join me – answer these questions with me

Open your hearts raw to Him….enter into Advent

Where do you feel like a stump?

What are you waiting for?

Where can you see new life?

I heard God say “ start this book on December 1.”

I knew it was like a devotion but I didn’t know it would be this…to me on day one….HOPE

a poem

A life less stump

unmolded clump

quick to jump after his blunt ax like tongue

chopping off hearts and hands reaching out

waiting and yearning for the resurrection

for the fire of love to breathe through

a moment turning round and round

again and again – clash and bash

But I trust….I will listen….I follow

pray and speak life

call those things that are not as though they were

and in that moment Hope arose and Faith made way

the SON rose in his heart

and the moment of humility came to pass from lips to ears

it is there I see GOD

Advent …. I see the COMING of the SON in my world…

Advent …an old word for a new day
