Our hope comes from GOD but if we do not allow people to help us, then how are we to have our hope fulfilled, since God uses others to touch us.

 If you are hopeful …

it could be that  you are helpless in a situation and you hope that someone who has the tools, the knowledge, the answer, the means, the understanding, the strength comes to help you

 If you are helpful …

you could be that help for another who is hoping.

 The hopeless need the helpful!

 Many of us are INDEPENDENT like me

we grew up taking care of ourselves and had learned in hard situations that to depend on others was not safe. So we did everything ourselves and because we naturally believe that people should think like we do, at times we do not see the need to be helpful and we think:

“God helps those who help themselves”

and so we go it alone and expect others to do the same

 So while you are hopeless and in need of help instead of using the christianese saying “just give it to the Lord” and making yourself forget and move on.  How about while we await our help we go and be the help to someone who is feeling hopeless while you await your help.

And lets change the christianese saying

“ God helps those who help themselves”

to a Jesus saying

“GO and DO likewise”

Luke 10:36-38

 So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?” And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

The one who is a neighbor helped the man, sheltered him, and took care of his need. I am sure he was very busy himself and had much to do but he took the time to be HELPFUL for someone who was HELPLESS!

btw – helpless does not mean lazy…

helpless is one who lacks help
