Never again clutter your days or nights with so many menial and unimportant things that you have no time to accept a real challenge when it comes along. This applies to play as well as work. A day merely survived is no cause for celebration. You are not here to fritter away your precious hours when you have the ability to accomplish so much by making a slight change in your routine. No more busy work. No more hiding from success. Leave time, leave space, to grow. Now. Now! Not tomorrow! –Og Mandino (1923 – 1996)
Routines – in the past I agonized over this word. Often I have told myself that I like to live on the fly. Not strapped to any particular way. Roll with the punches………….but what I have found out is that if I have no routines when the punches come much of my roll looks like a flailing mess. The problem was : no preparation.
So the new year came around and one of my new years resolutions was to Get up and do something….let me explain. Most of my work is on the computer….so as anyone who works at home…writer, homebased business, ect…you know that it is very easy to just play on the computer and get lost for hours. Then suddenly its time for dinner there is nothing prepared.. you havent made it to the store…and well the rest of the house sort of looks like you feel…OUT OF PLACE. This is where www.Flylady.net comes in. I found this site a couple of years ago. Back then the most common phase out of my mouth to myself was “I hate cleaning the kitchen!” I didnt like anything about it and the power of those words kept me chained to a vicious cycle of non ending kitchen mess. I never seemed to be able to get a hold of keeping it nice. Well Flylady taught me how to shine my sink! Ever since I have had control of my kitchen. Recently I found Flylady again…and this time the words that had me enslaved were “I hate doing laundry!” It was always piles and piles that never seemed to end. It has been a week since I started Flylady for the second time. I am amazed!! Her plan works !!!! My kitchen is spotless, the bathroom is clean, the laundry is under control, the back cabinet in the kitchen is decluttered, my bed is made and so is my daughters, the house is clean, I cleaned out my closet and under my bed, and I feel great…and the best part…most of these are done in 15 mins…and I feel great. If someone calls and says they want to stop by I can breath easy and say OK!! and do nothing but wait. No more running around in 15 mins to clean the WHOLE house…no more embarrasement or saying -oh pardon the mess:0)
