It was a high counsel that I once heard given to a young person, “Always do what you are afraid to do.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
It is fear that keeps us locked up inside ourselves, refusing to come out. It is fear that holds us from our dreams because we hold it to close. It is fear that makes the heart pound and the skin go numb when we think about doing what we are afraid to do.
Have we thought about one little part of fear that gets clouded in the emotions that we wade in…
THE FACT THAT WE ARE AFRAID MAY MEAN THAT WE WANT IT ALL THE MORE!!!
It is the nervous singer who must overcome fear to release their voice to the world. It is the writer who desires to share their words that must overcome the fear of failure and let that fire of words flow through their fingers on to the page. It is the one who loves their friend that must overcome the fear of rejection to communicate their heart in honesty.
Could it be that the reason we are told –
2Ti 1:7 | For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. |
we are just to recognize that the feeling of fear is present for a reason, not to stop us but to remind us that we have a spirit of power, love and a sound mind. …so JUMP ….that this fear may just be your clue that you really want it!!
(Just a different angle…) ;0)
