Moments that stick
Sometimes we have moments that stick. These are moments that just feel of greater importance than they seem. For whatever reason, I notice them. I want to share one with you.
I was driving up to my house. I saw a flutter, a big one, out of the corner of my eye. It was a hawk that had landed on the back of my neighbor’s truck. It sat there for a few moments and then flew off down the street and landed in a tree. I got out of my car and turned to see where it had landed, high up in the tree. As I began to turn to go up my walkway to my house, my eyes caught the scenery. I stopped and looked around at the trees, the sky, the grass, and the houses all around in my neighborhood. It felt different. It looked different. I said out loud, “Everything is different. Everything has changed.” Like a shift in the spirit and a new way forward.
Has anyone else felt that?
Birthday goodies
This year I felt the ease of 49 coming. Just this slow stepping into a new year. Friends blessed me, and my family showed up and loved on me. It’s such a blessing to be loved.

My sister is silly!

I am reading 1 Corinthians
Paul says in the first few verses that this letter is to those sanctified in Christ Jesus.
Then the first portion, verses 4-9, says this:
I always thank my God for you because of the grace of God given to you in Christ Jesus, 5 that you were enriched in him in every way, in all speech and all knowledge. 6 In this way, the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you, 7 so that you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ. 8 He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you will be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful; you were called by him into fellowship with his Son,
1 Corinthians 4-9
Jesus Christ our Lord.
I noticed it said that the enrichment they had in Christ was in all speech and all knowledge. That these two ways, the testimony about Christ, was confirmed in them. And they did not lack any spiritual gift.
To me, I see the connection that Paul makes between sanctification and how that comes about to show the evidence of our testimony and give expression of the Spirit through us.
It shows up in two main ways:
- SPEECH – our mouths are sanctified
- KNOWLEDGE – our understanding is being sanctified
So that we don’t walk like we used to and we don’t live according to our own understanding but we are growing and maturing in the truth.
FOR WHAT PURPOSE: so that you will be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Word of God is so awesome!
Thanks for listening,
Starla
