²⁹ When the crowds were increasing, he began to say, “This generation is an evil generation. It seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah. ³⁰ For as Jonah became a sign to the people of Nineveh, so will the Son of Man be to this generation. ³¹ The queen of the South will rise up at the judgment with the men of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something greater than Solomon is here. ³² The men of Nineveh will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is here.

Luke 11:29-32

One day, when the judgment comes, those who went before like the queen of the south and the men of Nineveh will stand to give confirmation that truth and right are real and it is evident. That life triumphs over death. The Jesus saves! We live in a day, just as Jesus faced, when the people sought for signs to prove the truth. Jesus is the truth – there is no other sign.

I’ve been participating in a Sunday study through the book of Hebrews. In chapter 2, there is a solemn warning to the reader.

Hebrews 2:1 Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. ² For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, ³ how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard, ⁴ while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.

This is a warning against not paying attention to what God is saying. He sent His Son Jesus to be our Salvation. This salvation was spoke first by the Lord, confirmed by actual witnesses, and the Holy Spirit bore witness by distributing gifts according to his will.

We must not let unbelief rob us of the truth.

JESUS IS LORD. JESUS IS OUR SALVATION.

JESUS IS THE ONE WHO BRINGS LIFE THROUGH DEATH.

Do you struggle to believe the truth about Jesus?

If we struggle? If we doubt? What shall we do?

Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Father, help our unbelief. Help us when we doubt. Open your Word to our eyes and heart that we might see the truth of Jesus. Help us to know what You sent Him to do. Teach us the truth. Strengthen our hearts and minds with the truth of the gospel. So that one day we too can stand in the judgment to declare His greatness. In Jesus name. Amen
