Hello Friends, welcome to Sunday2Monday. The place where we say it again! As my pastor says: Repetition brings revelation!
In the final message of this series, Pastor Lynn brought it home to one very practical step of how we can move into alignment with God and truly be ready! First, he reminded us of some very important points from the previous week.
- Jesus’s death, burial, and resurrection is not the whole gospel. He returned to heaven after His resurrection not only as Son of God but as Son of Man. When He was seated He took the throne as the church, as head of the church, and as the first of many.
- We are destined for the throne. We are co-heirs with Christ. We are kings and priests with Him. We are now seated in Christ with Him who sits on the throne. We co-reign with Christ.
After Jesus ascended and was seated. He was coronated as King and He has also become a High Priest. This is 1 office with 2 functions. The first function is High Priest. Jesus is our intercessor. He is our advocate who brings our needs to the Father. He has forever silenced the voice of the accuser against us. He intercedes for us and on our behalf. The second function is King. Jesus is a magistrate who administers the will of the Fathers. He decrees over the heavens and the earth. It is how He does this that is so amazing. He does this through the church, through us!
1 Peter 2:9 But you are God’s chosen treasure—priests who are kings, a spiritual “nation” set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light, and now he claims you as his very own. He did this so that you would broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world.
What is God using to prepare us?
Pastor Lynn said, “Outside of the message of the gospel, what I am going to share with you today is the most important content for the church.” He continued by saying, “It is the most tragically neglected assignment we have. It is the most important and highest mandate that Jesus has given us. It is the greatest equipping tool we have. It is our most urgent priority!” This thing – It affects the kingdom. If we don’t get this, we will displace the Spirits power with self-driven activity. It is so important because how we do things has great impact. Everything we say and do is reverberating and has a profound impact on us, on people, on the world and for eternity.
Prayer
The most neglected assignment we have is prayer! We are to have a passion for prayer. We are change makers and history changers because God has deputized us to have authority in the earth, so that, we are able to declare His will in the earth. Some might think, “If God already knows what we need, then why do I have to pray?” Some just live by a sneaky thought process of complacency and say to themselves, “what will be, will be.” But God is a Father and in His sovereign plan, he has chosen not to move in the earth without us. He has made us co-heirs, co-rulers, co-reigning with Him. God is training His children to be kings and priests. That is our identity. Your understanding of prayer is connected to your understanding of that identity. – Tweet that!
We have been entrusted with this mandate. Jesus said, “My house is the be a house of prayer.” We are learning to pray with God and to see things His way. He is training us to be priests who minister to Him and others. We are learning to be kings who declare the mandates of heaven into the earth. There are no step kids in heaven! Just full functioning children of God.
Why?
Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and the gift is yours. Seek, and you’ll discover. Knock, and the door will be opened for you.
Jesus taught us to pray! Why? Because God is eager to partner with us. He wants to answer our prayers not so that we can say “I prayed for that!” He answers because He wants to make the name of Jesus great! Our God is not reluctant, He is eager! Eagerly waiting to hear from you! When Jesus taught about building the church He used an interesting word for His new way of doing things. He didn’t use a term that was culturally significant to His disciples, like, temple or synagogue. He used the word church. Ecclesia meaning called out ones. A type of Congress. It is a legislature. Do you get the picture? It is the word for a body of people who legislate or who decree a thing. We are the assembled legislating body of Christ. We have been given power of attorney over the earth. Where you see the enemy at work, God has given you the power to ask in Jesus name to legislate what needs to change. Much of the church has lost its voice of intercession and has consigned to simply be voices of complaint. – Tweet That!
Jesus said, “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Don’t be a do nothing congress! Restrain what needs to be restrained and unlock what needs to be unlocked. It is time to start decreeing somethings. Go after it in prayer and watch what God will do! God could do it without you, but He is a good Father who is training His children to be kings and priests. He is awaiting your voice, so speak!
Thanks for Listening,
