Day 21 – He is our Help

Day 21 – He is our Help

In Matthew chapter 8, Jesus is on one side of the sea doing what He does when he travels. He goes about doing good and healing people. In the story, people are bringing everyone to him to be healed and helped. He is even casting out demons. He gets into a boat, calms the sea, and crosses to the other side where He casts out demons but the people beg him to leave. Isn’t that fascinating! I wonder if the people on both sides of the sea observed Him calm the sea? What was so different about these two sides who experienced Jesus and the miracles He performed but had totally different outcomes in their hearts.

For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”  When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such faith.

Matthew 8:9-10

We respond the same way. At times we can have great faith just like the centurion who said to Jesus, ” I understand authority, if You send the word it will be done.” This man’s faith was refreshing to Jesus. At other times, we are like the Gadarenes people, who were more concerned about their property than they were about seeing two of their men restored to wholeness and in their right minds. Either way, Jesus reveals the hearts of men by what He says and what He does.

Life is not about circumstances, it’s about heart stances. Tweet That!

How we respond to every circumstance in life reveals where our heart is. There is no help without a true understanding of where we are. God can not fix what you will not admit. Jesus knows that all things begin at the core. Jesus always goes after the hearts of men because He is our help. Real help starts at the root.

PRAYER: Jesus, I need help to not just observe the circumstances or symptoms in my life. Help me to dig a little deeper into the heart of the issues I have. How do see You right now? What do I think You are able to do and be for me? I believe You are my help in time of need.

Are you full of stress and anxiety? Have you been able to back away from the circumstances and look at the situation from God’s point of view? He has a full sight line on the heart. Ask Him to reveal what stance your heart has today.
