Day 8 – He is Wonderful

Jesus, the God come in human flesh is a wonder. It is hard to even wrap my mind around the truths of the Bible. I can’t figure it out. Thank God for faith. I don’t have to have it all figured out, I get to wonder and awe at the grand plan of the God of heaven and earth. It’s wonderous and fantastical! When I think of Jesus, my jaw often hangs wide open. He left His kingdom, His realm to enter into the broken creation that He had made perfect but Satan and man destroyed it. I don’t know about you but my first reaction to someone destroying something I created is anger. When I was about 10, I watch my “dad” burn my mothers art and all her supplies in an angry rage. Her reaction was a sad one to watch. In one flash of activated anger, all the joy that creating brought to her life was crushed and she didn’t create again for 2 decades. It is the saddest thing to watch hope die.

Isaiah 9:2-6 The people who walked in darkness
    have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
    on them has light shone.
³ You have multiplied the nation;
    you have increased its joy;
they rejoice before you
    as with joy at the harvest,
    as they are glad when they divide the spoil.
⁴ For the yoke of his burden, 
and the staff for his shoulder,
    the rod of his oppressor,
    you have broken as on the day of Midian.
⁵ For every boot of the tramping warrior in battle tumult
    and every garment rolled in blood
    will be burned as fuel for the fire.
⁶ For to us a child is born,
    to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
    and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

God wasn’t angry. He was filled with compassion. He sent Jesus, the very first hope carrier into this great big broken world. Within Christ Himself is all that we will ever need; salvation, redemption, restoration, peace, joy, and the list goes on and on. He came to bring wonder back. So many eyes look like my mother’s that day hope died in her. They are empty, sad, and without hope. Life is dark and joy is lost. Christ came to shine the light on the end of the dark tunnels we live in. He came to restore the joy of living. He came to break the heavy burdens from us, and to destroy the enemy who wars against us. He was born for us to change the ruling factors of our destiny. He is Jesus the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace! There is no one like Him. I can’t figure Him out. I can’t wrap my head around it but I trust Him. I trust Him because since the day that He called my name I haven’t been afraid to hold hope and that is a wonder all on its own considering the world I live in. Jesus broke fear to make us hope carriers, we are people of wonder because He is Wonderful. – Tweet This! 

PRAYER: Jesus thank You for the hope you brought with You. Thank you for being broken and given so that hope poured out into the world.
