Duck and Hide!

1 Peter 2:6

…..and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame.

I am almost unsure as to how I want to write this post. So I am just going to start and let my spirit lead me.

Shame is a difficult thing for me to deal with …

I have felt it many times.

Embarrassing moments where I thought the whole world could see I was a mess….which I am ! but somehow knowing that everyone can see – in certain moments makes one heavy hearted and ready to turn on their heels and run for it.

Duck and Hide!

Dictionary.com says shame is a painful feeling caused by the consciousness or exposure of unworthy or indecent conduct or circumstances.

“ I didn’t do it right!” –this thought will cause me a bit of shame to rise.

Also my hurts and sadness, my trials that I endure cause me to feel a bit of shame …because I should be able to handle this…with a good attitude…in a loving manner. I should not have anger and bitterness or a bad attitude. I’m a CHRISTIAN for heaven’s sake!!

And that’s the issue …

this strange expectation that I have to be PERFECT!!

ITS NOT ABOUT ME !!

Christ is the perfect one…I am the one being perfected.

I am not there yet! ..but I’m climbing.

But there is something I saw today when reading in 1 Peter it said:

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

My light bulb moment for today :

We will never be put to shame – we DECLARE the Praises of Him who called us!

When we praise we are giving HIM the credit due.

He called us out of darkness into light.

That is just like saying “I am a mess and Jesus is perfecting me.”

It is when we can be honest and truthful …yet pressing on toward the prize. In this honesty …in this revealing of where we really are (our darkness ) that we step into HIS WONDERFUL LIGHT. Have you ever noticed how when you feel shameful you want to hide…darkness hides much from sight but it is still there.

Truth always Frees US!

In that action of honesty we are saying “LORD I TRUST YOU….and simply because of that we will NEVER be put to shame.

And that is declaring PRAISE.

Thank you Lord. I trust You. Your ways are better than my ways!!
