Hello Monday #97

I was listening to a podcast

Alison Armstrong said something that hit me:

Shame happens from a betrayal of self. Now, one of the things that’s important for men to know is most men think when they feel shame that it means they’re dishonorable, which is horrific for a man to think that he’s dishonorable. And this is my message to all men. Only honorable men feel shame. Shame is the sign that you’re honorable. It’s the indicator that you are honorable. Dishonorable people, men and women, feel no shame. No matter what harm they’ve done to anyone, they feel no shame. Shame is a sign of honor, an indicator of honor, a function of honor.

Best Video from this week:

I love how she explains how to escape the brain loop keeping you stuck in stress and anxiety

A Bible verse that stuck out to me:

For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

Galatians 6:8-9

What you put in and what you give out really is more of what you get. The flesh, this is simply the part of you that desires to be first and foremost. It is the part of you that refuses to be denied anything that it wants. It hates being told no. It is selfish, arrogant, and often cruel. Galatians 5 tells us all about it. It spells out plain as day when the works of the flesh are. Yeah, it has its own kind of actions.

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21

Would you agree that this list is corruption? — Corruption is the harvest of the flesh!

adultery is the destruction of marriage

fornication is corruption of purity

uncleanness is the opposite of cleanliness

lewdness is the breakdown of decency and integrity

idolatry is redirected glory

sorcery is the use of ritual for manipulation

hatred is the breakdown of love

contentions are the corruption of contentment

jealousy is erosion of trust

outburst of wrath is the inability to be self controlled

selfish ambition is taking or conquering at the expense of others

dissension is the release of constant bickering and irritations that causes division

heresy is to live and promote a way of living that is opposite of truth

envy is to want what is not yours and to distain your own lot

murder is the destruction of life

drunkenness skews and breeds a disordered perspective

revelry is the allowance of all debauchery – sex, partying, orgy, drugs.

They who sows to the flesh will of the flesh reap corruption.

but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Self-Control

Advent

Advent began yesterday. I will most likely be even quieter than I have been through Give Thanks in November. I went silent on Substack. I have been doing a simple post on FB through Give thanks 30-day challenge. I may add somethings here through the month on Hello Mondays. But I am taking some down time. This is when I begin reading, listening, praying, intaking, breathing, resting and let go of producing, preparing, and performing, exerting, going, running.

It time to Shhhhhhhh…

Thanks for Listening
