No turning back

DAY 4 – Make a choice

Today’s Scripture

1 John 2: 15-17 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

If you haven’t noticed the world, it’s acceptance of whatever goes, it’s never-ending peepshow, and its drive to pump you full of pride is on high octane output all day, every day, – 24-7 and 365. It never tires of offering us something new, shiny, even degrading to take hold of and sink our teeth in.

But again, I notice just as in day 2 which said, “the darkness is passing away” here we see the world is passing away and the lust of it.

Is… passing

But he who does the will of God abides forever.

The duality of our walking…

I had asked this question on my additional fb ponders about day 2:

Are we in-between choosing which way we face until we are at home in the light of Heaven?

Because we have a choice here:

Face the world that is passing away with its lusts or do the will of God and abide forever.

Action: Decide today that you will choose to follow God. Make that declaration to God today. Notice the things of this world that you love (have affection/desire for) and renounce them.

The cross before me
The world behind me
I have decided to follow Jesus
no turning back
no turning back

This little song is how I will make this declaration today. NO TURNING BACK

Poets’ Prose

What loves call me away
full of worldly sway
What loves cave my stance
and dull my light
the high minded
rightness
tickling my know it all
The perfect display
and how perfect I made it
attention
affection
full of syrup and sauce
poured on thick
to resemble and mimic greatness
and applause
but would my King stand
would He lift His scepter
would He nod in delight
and rejoice with resounding thunder
or would He be still
watching
waiting until I returned from the feast of myself
