Welcome to September!
Something new I got:
I went to a stationary store. Yes, I like … no I love paper. I am a sucker for it actually. But I don’t want people buying me notebooks unless they are just lined paper or blank because if they get the kind that has questions, devos, or some other thing in there I most likely won’t use it because my brain doesn’t need help like that. I do that all on my own all day long. lol Sorry but it’s true.

So, I just started filling it out for the week. This is going to become my home hub!
What I am reading:
It is more like listening to because it’s an audible book called Atomic Habits. Habits run our lives! The part I am pondering this week is the role environment plays in building our habits.

It is difficult to change our habits – if we do something in a space.
- I find that if I sit in my living room chair, I am going to scroll on social media and lose a ton of time.
- If I sit at my desk, I am going to study, write, and blog.
- If I sit on the couch, I am going to take a nap.
- I have been sitting on my porch more. And I have been bringing my phone and scrolling. But that is not what I want that space to be for. So, since it tends to take 21 days to create a habit. I am going to use the space for thinking space. A place I can just let my brain roam as I sit and watch the clouds, or even bring a notebook and pen so I can jot ideas down.

Previously I learned about habit stacking – where you can add things to what you are currently doing so that it becomes a new habit. I turned by morning coffee routine into a habit stack.
- I drink water and take vitamins first
- Turn on the coffee pot and while it brews
- I do an exercise routine
Then I get my coffee I sit down at my desk: I use to use this space to jump on FB and get lost scrolling. Now, when I am in this space:
- Sometimes sit in silence, take some deep breaths, other times I pray.
- I edit a bit of one study that is already written but needs one more look over
- I write on a piece that I am creating
- Then I post something encouraging or inviting before I move on
Then I go make breakfast for my boys. In this space:
- Make breakfast
- I do any small clean ups as it’s cooking (dishes, sweeping, wiping counters)
- Wake them up
- I get their plates and vitamins ready
- Make sure they drink water too
I used to do a lot of these things in a random pattern. It all got done but often things were missed. And I NEVER had time for a workout or drinking water. Ever!
Have you read the book, or do you habit stack naturally?
We started a 21 day Renew you mind challenge yesterday:
If you would like to join – it’s not too late to join. Or you can just start today. 🙂 https://starlalala77.substack.com/p/21-day-challenge

or you can download the PDF of it in my studies and freebies section.
Before we know it, winter will be here, and a lot of our summer habits will fall away. I guess it’s just really good time to work on habits before that change comes.
- If you could change one habit what would it be?
- Take time to evaluate what the spaces in your home trigger you to do.
- Change the space or shift it in some way by adding a new trigger – like if you want to read in a certain space make a home for books right near there.
- What habits do you currently have that you don’t want to change and think about what you could stack with them?
HAPPY HABIT BREAKING AND MAKING!!
Thanks for Listening,
Starla
