HELLO MONDAY #27

I am currently in the middle of a 40-day prayer challenge over on my Facebook page. Every day I am posting covering certain prayer points. (Hold that thought)

Way before doing this 40-day challenge, my bff Jen and I have been praying every week on Thursdays. Recently we took up eating lunch, then walking the parking lot at work, at the church, to pray. (Hold that thought)

When I was on vacation up in Minnesota, I saw a Robin standing on a stump and the Lord connected a little lesson to that Robin that I posted on FB. Read that then (Hold that thought)

Last week my daughter pointed this little bird out to me in the parking lot on the way out from church. She said, “If you were a bird, you would be that kind.” She thought its little, long legs stamping the ground, for some reason, remind her of me. lol

This is called a killdeer. Here is it’s call if you want to listen.

Ok, now back to those hold markers! As my bff and I were walking around the parking lot on Thursday and praying. This little bird was losing it. She had a tiny baby in the nest area, and she placed herself between us and the baby. At the same time the papa bird was busy giving us the o’l look at me over here I have a broken wing trick. As we walked toward it, it would get up and run further away from the nest and then act like it was hurt again. Clever thing! Doing its best to lead the danger to the little family away.

Again, back to a holder – What I didn’t say on that post, about that Robin at the lake on the stump was that the Lord said something else. He said to me or us (His people) that we are to be like watchmen on the wall.

Watchmen on the wall is a term that comes from the Bible. The ones that have stood out to me the most are the set of verses in the Bible from Isaiah.

On your walls, O Jerusalem,
    I have set watchmen;
all the day and all the night
    they shall never be silent.
You who put the Lord in remembrance,
    take no rest,
and give him no rest
    until he establishes Jerusalem
    and makes it a praise in the earth.

Isaiah 62:6-7

The term watchman or watchmen is a term used for one who is called or place in position to watch over, protect, defend, and declare over a people, a place, or even as God wills, a nation. A spiritual watchman will pray over, declare God’s word, and spiritually war in prayer against the enemy.

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
    and in his word I hope;
my soul waits for the Lord
    more than watchmen for the morning,
    more than watchmen for the morning.

Psalm 130:5-6

As we walked, talked, and asked the Lord what He wanted us to pray (we usually come with an idea of what to pray but not that day, we sensed a waiting and a looking) so we just praised Him for His goodness and graces, that is when we saw these little birds being ever so diligent to call out danger, lead danger away, and protect the nest and baby.

We began to pray over our church family, the building, and declare His goodness and protection. To declare His provision and help for those in need in our community.

In Ezekiel 33, God makes Ezekiel a watchman over Israel. He gives him ears to hear and eyes to see.

The word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, speak to your people and say to them, If I bring the sword upon a land, and the people of the land take a man from among them, and make him their watchman, and if he sees the sword coming upon the land and blows the trumpet and warns the people, then if anyone who hears the sound of the trumpet does not take warning, and the sword comes and takes him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. He heard the sound of the trumpet and did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself. But if he had taken warning, he would have saved his life. But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand. “So you, son of man, I have made a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me.

Ezekiel 33:1-7

So, the point of the watchman is to see and hear and then give warning! If they hear you but do not heed the warning, then what comes upon them is their problem basically but if you see and hear but do not warn and they come into calamity the problem is on you. WOW!~

I recently had 2 dreams. One right after the other – one night then the next. Each had a specific message in them that was stated very clearly.

  • The first one – a woman who I would consider a great prayer warrior who has passed on to glory said, “I HEAR A NEW SOUND.”
  • The second one – a man who I didn’t know but who was connected to a man that I do know and would consider a faithful man was yelling and yelling, “THE FLIES ARE COMING!”

I believe that it is going to be incredibly important to hear and understand what the Lord is saying to His people in the coming days. Jesus said in John 10:27, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” We hear a lot of things these days, from TV, social media, podcasts, and various other avenues into our eyes and ears. But nothing will be as important as taking in the Word of God and knowing the voice of the Shepherd.
