One of the most beautiful things I have ever seen:
Imagine if we had a chance to go to the future to know how our lives impacted the world:
Book I bought: Earlier this month I finished a book by Terry Tempest Williams. She is a conservationist, storyteller, and poet. I read her book, “When Women Were Birds” and loved it. One the day of the Eclipse I stopped into Barnes and Noble and took a look at her other books available. One that stood out was called Erosion. The first line of the preface captivated me.
If the world is torn to pieces, I want to see what story I can find in fragmentation.
Terry Tempest Williams
I bought it yesterday.
Her views are different than mine. Her understanding comes from her experience. As does mine. There is a lot we can learn from each other if we don’t wall ourselves into little boxes that don’t let any other views in.
One quote from a reader of Erosion said:
These are essays about the courage to face what is most brutal and monstrous by finding what is most beautiful and merciful.
Rebecca Solnit
Other book I am reading: The Blessing of Humility by Jerry Bridges. It is a book on the beatitudes from the sermon on the mount that Jesus preached to the people in Matthew 5.
These blessings:
- Blessed are the poor in spirit
- Blessed are those who mourn
- Blessed are the meek
- Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness
- Blessed are the merciful
- Blessed are the pure in heart
- Blessed are the peacemakers
- Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake
As the writer has been breaking these down, the Lord has been dealing with me and revealing things to me. I am so thankful for the tender care of the Lord to tend my heart. All of these beatitudes (BE ATTITUDES) have been revealed new and fresh to me, different than what I had thought about them.
Something absolutely wonderful about who Jesus is and why we forgive: LINK
Thanks for Listening,
Starla
