Who are you Messing with?

on

Acts 9:3-5 During the journey, as he approached Damascus, suddenly a light from heaven encircled him.  He fell to the ground and heard a voice asking him, “Saul, Saul, why are you harassing me?”  Saul asked, “Who are you, Lord?”  “I am Jesus, whom you are harassing,” came the reply.

Pastor said “Take a look at these verses do you see that Jesus told Saul that he was persecuting HIM when he persecutes the church?”

Then he went on to say “That means that means when someone is messing with you or doing you wrong, or you are messing with someone else, you really are messing with Jesus!”

WOW!!

First of all….THANK YOU LORD!!

The Battle belongs to You!!

That is why when we do to others as they have done to us ( in the negative) it will always backfire on us! Because we will always reap what we sow. Sometimes our hearts are just plain evil and we want to get back at people. You know what I am talking about ( we don’t like to admit it ) but the truth is hidden in our thoughts.

“ Well, if you don’t appreciate everything I do for you, I just wont do a thing ever again”

“Did you see that she just snubbed me, acted like I wasn’t even here, well then I will just ignore her this week and see how she likes it.”

and a million other thought examples …but the Word say:

Psalm 7:3-5 O LORD my God, if I have done this:
If there is iniquity in my hands,
If I have repaid evil to him who was at peace with me,
Or have plundered my enemy without cause,
Let the enemy pursue me and overtake me;
Yes, let him trample my life to the earth,
And lay my honor in the dust.  Selah

That is really strong !! I certainly don’t want any of that coming my way. Thank Goodness we were provided a better way…

1 Peter 3:9 Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will bless you for it.

We may need to hit the pause button and get our hearts right but we can press our actions to kindness whether we like it or not. I use to think “ HOW IN THE WORLD AM I SUPPOSE TO KIND WHEN I FEEL SO UGLY TOWARD THIS PERSON, ISNT THAT BEING FAKE??!! “ I have learned …

It is being OBEDIENT!

  3. You know, I’ve never read the story of Saul that way before. I interpreted God’s words literally, instead of realizing that he was referring to the church as a whole, instead of Jesus specifically. You are right: this broadens the whole meaning of that particular story. Point well taken — thank you, Starla!
