Money changers

Christ is our atonement. An amazing thing happened. For years I came across this verses wondering why he did this

Mark 11:15-17

15And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;

16And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.

17And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.

Christ was angry and he drove the money changers out.

Look here at the word ATONEMENT in

Romans 5:11

11And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

In Strongs this word atonement is katallagē which means exchange or to be of the business of money changers, exchanging equivalent values.

He was angry because they were selling the exchange of sheep and oxen and doves for an atonement which only He could provide.

John 10:1

1Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door (Christ) into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

These people were thinking they had God’s grace and favor by the blood of these animals. But our atonement only comes from Christ. They were buying not the Truth.
