Sunday2Monday: Free Indeed – The Great Emancipator

sunday2monday (1)

Hello Friends, welcome to Sunday2Monday. The place where we say it again! As my pastor says: Repetition brings revelation!

The final message for our series Free Indeed culminated on Resurrection Sunday. Pastor Lynn recapped the series in his opening statements. He said, “Jesus has changed the situation. Not only are we freed from Satan’s dominion over us but we are free from sin!” He went on to say, “but not only that, in this message, I want to show you how you are also free from sin’s effect and its consequences.” I loved this message! It is a message of hope for not just the unbeliever but for the believer as well. We all need a brush up on our theology of what Jesus has done for us. People in this world have been left with a sense of hopelessness. That nothing will ever change. They speak the words themselves saying “I am too far gone. You don’t know what I have done.” They know and have heard that Jesus died to save them from their sins and still they think somehow they cannot qualify. They are not alone. Even Christians who have accepted the free gift of salvation know that they are forgiven but think and believe that they still have to suffer the consequences of their past lives before they knew Christ. How is that free indeed?

What if that is not true? What if the good news, is good news?  What if it’s not a “too good to be true” kind of story! God is not a man that He would lie. He wants to reverse the curse!

Galatians 3:13  Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”— 14 so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.

This is a gospel of full restoration!

A central point of our faith is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:14 And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. If Jesus only died on the cross and did not rise our faith is useless. Why? The resurrection is our promise of resurrection too. We will be completely restored. God can take the dead parts of me and make them alive! There is not one thing that God can not change in our lives.

The resurrection of Jesus changes our posture. We are not “better” versions of ourselves after we believe. Jesus didn’t come to make our old life better! He came and rose again to give us a new life altogether.

The cross and tomb are God’s climactic statement that truly Jesus took the curse for us, in every form the curse has been reversed! Only God could take the cross, a symbol of death and turn it into a doorway of salvation. Only God could take the greatest fear of man which is death and hell and turn it into the gateway to heaven itself. We are no longer appointed to death. We are appointed to blessing! Redeem means to buy back. Jesus redeemed us from the curse! Curse means barrenness. The law stood against us to remove all hope of blessing but Jesus came to reverse the curse. We are blessable!

So what does that mean?

It means there is no negative in your life that God cant make positive. He can retranslate and reinterpreted every negative thing in your life into a positive. There is no curse He can not reverse. He is the Great Emancipator!

Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

ALL THINGS! God did not cause all things but He can cause all things to work for your good. The things you caused, the bad decisions and choices and things other people caused, their bad decisions and choices He can and does work them out for our good. Why? Because He is for you and not against you! He desires to come alongside you and go to work on your behalf.

If you will not retreat from the gospel when you go through hard situations and circumstances, you will see the same God who saved your soul can redeem any situation you walk through! – Pastor Lynn Furrow -Tweet That!

If we believe it – we will live it! We will go from here to there, from death to life and more!

Isaiah 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be glorified.”
