Chicken!

on

Shanda over at A Pause on the Path asks on Tuesday what is on your heart ? Today I am thinking about Chickens…

YES CHICKENS!

Are you a chicken?

I am two different kinds of  chickens at times.

ONE is the chicken who’s feathers are ruffled and I spaz out…

I cant think when I am like that ….can you!?

I just look like a crazy person. Who thinks they are right. Who wants there way and that is why they are throwing a fit. Fussing over details. Worrying about things that may never happen. Worried about what it looks like. Head swirling in the what if’s …. making all that true!

I keep getting a glimpse of this CHICKEN LADY in me losing her mind, feathers ruffles and squawking! Garbling out all different manor of unintelligible chicken squallier.

Colossians 3:15 And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

If we ( ME) would heed this …I wouldn’t look like a chicken running around with my head cut off.

Get it – HEAD CUT OFF – disconnected from Christ.

The SECOND kind of chicken is the one who is AFRIAD that people with think bad about you by what they see or think you are saying . You worry ( yes again WORRY) that others judge your motives.

This kind of chicken spends time trying to do damage control instead of living life and letting things be as they are and dealing with that. There an issue of control of what people think of you. The control of how a situation pans out. This is terrible place to be when you are between parties who you think don’t mesh well.

This is when I start to play catch the words said, so that I can reform them so they aren’t so harsh, hurtful ( according to my fear of how the other person may react) Have you noticed yet that everything is based on YOU!! ME!! ME!!!!

I don’t want to be that kind of chicken …the know it all …the assuming…the all controlling – ALL ABOUT ME, CHICKEN!!

So since I can see this about myself …now I want do my best to pay attention.

I want to let people answer for themselves ( chicken #2 issue)  and not take on the responsibility and assume that I know what I “think” others will think ( turning me into chicken #1 ) (

I know what kind of chicken I want to be- if being any kind of chicken is ok…boy this post is interesting..hahahah! )

ANYWAYS …like this !  I want to be this kind of chicken …lol

Only GOD can take the ordinary and make it Extraordinary !!

Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

SUBMIT TO GOD, AND BE THE EXTRAORDINARY CHICKEN! Smile

This kind of chicken gives of itself ( her eggs) and when she has chicks her little ones hid under her wings giving warmth and protection. This chicken knows that you reap what you sow ….be a giving chicken .  LOL –this post is cracking me up!

What kind of Chicken are you ??

  3. I don’t know what in the world made you think of this post but I LOVE IT! I think there is a bit of crazy in you. Me: a bit of a chicken running around with it’s head cut off. But the chicken I DO want to be is one that spreads out her wings and protects her loved ones!!!

  7. Starla, love your chicken analogies. When you think about chickens have some great qualities – persistence (they peck until they get what they’re after), focus (they will sit on the egg until it hatches) and contentment (never heard a chicken complain that her coop was too small or her chicks were getting on her nerves. Maybe being “chicken” isn’t such a bad thing afterall! 🙂

I love such truth wrapped in great humor! Great visual for my “freaking out” days. Lol

God was actually showing me that this week…
How I was having a fit of self-pity and was acting no worse than my teenagers having a tantrum. Funny to think that we can act w/ God…the way our kids act w/ us.

    After all these years….
I guess I have just learned how to disguise it a whole lot better.

Great post! Loved reading! Blessings ~ jen

Egg-cellent post that has me cluck-ling. There have been times in my life that I have been a fearful, worrying chicken. Working towards that excellence.
